Get Certified As A Professional Trainer- What You Need To Consider?

POSTED ON 6 March , 2020

One big challenge organisations encounter in our ever-changing world is to remain ahead of the game.

To accelerate competitiveness, our modern workforce juggles work while adapting to new markets,industry requirements, and overall business environments. More so, companies are now competing in the business reactivation landscape during and post COVID-19.

Staying on top means embracing up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies.

To drive business growth, training and development of employees is one of the people strategy that strengthens workplace skills for each employee to improve towards the bottomline.

By attending a training program together,  all employees reach a higher performance level so they all have similar skills and knowledge. This results in a reduction of weak knowledge or skill links within the company.

A competent workplace trainer makes training more relevant to the workplace. The ultimate goal of training is to ensure that the learner walks away from the session being able to apply the skills taught. To deliver top-notch, high-quality workplace training, it’s imperative that the in-house/internal trainers and subject-matter-experts (SMEs) are set up for success. Going through a typical Train-The-Trainer (TTT) programme ranges from short intense 2 to 3 day event covering the essentials to longer duration with various support mechanisms.

The short training format aims to empower subject-matter-experts with basic facilitation and training design skills. Training outcome centres around trainees to deliver effective training sessions in their own fields of expertise.The longer version is scattered over weeks amounting to 10-20 days that blends an opportunity for a live intense train-the-trainer event with subsequent recurring weekly training and coaching days. With a week’s break in-between each course means that extra assignments and ‘homework’ activities can encourage practice at the workplace while preparing for each session.

Both training formats can be great options to cover all your needs for your first train the trainer course.Thus there is no wrong or right format. Rather, trainees are advised to choose wisely based on criteria such as content of the TTT programme and lead trainer credentials.

Some trainees may also consider national certification requirements by authorities regulating the training industry. For example, the (click> HRDF Train-The-Trainer Certification Programme ) Become a Professional Trainer certified by HRDF after successfully completing our HRDF Train the Trainer (TTT) Certification Programme

As for the content of the TTT programme that is beyond basic training skills, you should allow for more complex interpersonal topics that a trainer needs to master, such as presentation, facilitation, and interaction. Trainees are usually expected to design and deliver sessions on a wide range of non-technical and technical topics for the workplace. In this regards, the highlights of  HRDF Train-The-Trainer Certification Programme (HRDF TTT) are;

1) Plan Adult Learning,

2) Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA),

3) Design Competency Based Training Programme,

4) Conduct Competency Based Training, and

5) Assess Participant’s Competence.

Going through this HRDF TTT certification reinforces a variety of workplace training by colleagues and managers. Therefore, HRDF TTT certification programme is a highly effective way to transfer knowledge and skills throughout the organisation.
